To create an account on Ancestry®, you need to enter an email address. Each email address may be connected to only one Ancestry account. If you don’t have an email address, or if your current email address is shared and is already associated with an Ancestry account, you’ll need to create a new email address to create a separate Ancestry account.
If you don't share an email address and receive a message saying your email address is already in use, try getting help signing in.
If you purchase a DNA kit for another adult (or anyone other than your minor child), that person will need to register their kit on their own Ancestry account. After they've registered their kit on their account, they can invite you to manage their test.
Ancestry does not provide email addresses, so we’ve compiled a list of companies below who provide free email services.
Email providers
These email service providers are only some of the many companies that provide free email services. An email address from any company will work for the purposes of creating an Ancestry account.
- Google provides free email services at Gmail.
- Yahoo provides free email services at Yahoo Mail.
- AOL provides free email services at AOL.
- Yandex provides free email services called Yandex.Mail.
