If you can't find your Ancestry® family tree, there's good news—we do not delete trees, so if you created a tree on Ancestry and didn’t delete it yourself, we just need to find it.
If only part of your tree is missing
If part of your tree appears, but a branch is missing, see our article about restoring people missing from a tree.
If your tree is missing from the Trees tab
If you click on the Trees tab and don’t see your tree, you may be signed in to the wrong account. Even if you see your name or username in the top-right corner, sign out of the account you’re in by clicking the name or username in the top-right corner and selecting Sign Out.
Sign in to your account and check if your tree is there. If you have the same problem after signing in again, sign out again and try signing in with a different email address (of yours). If this doesn’t work, please contact us.
If your tree is blank
- If you see your tree in your list of trees but don’t see any people once you’re in the tree, go to your tree and click the home button in the toolbar on the left side.
- If the home button doesn't make people appear, click the Find button.
- In the opened side panel on the right, click List of all people.
- Look for someone who should be in your tree. If you see them listed, click the tree name in the top-left corner of your screen and select Tree Settings.
- On the right side of the page, under Your home person in this tree, click choose.
- Type your name in the field and select yourself from the drop-down menu. If your name isn’t in the tree, type the name of someone (anyone) who’s in the tree and select it from the drop-down menu. When you’re done, click Select.
- Go back to your tree and click the home button again, and your tree should appear (fingers crossed).
