If you've paid for a membership, but the membership status on your Account settings page is “Registered Guest,” try signing out of your account and signing back in. If after signing back in, your membership status is still listed as Registered Guest, follow the steps at the bottom of the article.
Signing out and back in
- From any page on Ancestry®, click your name or username in the top-right corner and select Sign Out.
- Click SIGN IN in the top-right corner.
- Enter your username or email address and password and click Sign in.
Other solutions
If you sign out and back in to your account and you're still listed as a Registered Guest on your account page, try these steps:
- Clear your cache and cookies. It's important to clear your temporary internet files (cache and cookies) regularly. If your cache and cookies haven’t been cleared recently, your computer may try to load a previous version of a page rather than the current one.
- Enable cookies. When you sign in to Ancestry, we place a small file (a "cookie") on your computer. This file enables you to stay signed in to the site while you navigate to different pages. Usually, a browser's default settings are sufficient, but if you have problems staying signed in to your account, you may need to set your browser to always allow cookies from Ancestry.
- Change your security settings. Some computer security software blocks cookies. We recommend changing your software security settings to always allow cookies from Ancestry. Please consult your security program for instructions.
